There are more and more women directors

Nearly 1 in 4 people on the board of directors at Stock Exchange registered Belgian companies are women.

However, if we look back 10 years, only 6% of directors were women, L’Echo reported on Saturday. The paper said “there are more and more women directors”.

4 women – business solicitor Hilda Laga, Proximus CEO Dominique Leroy, Melexis boss Françoise Chombar and Evelyn du Monceau, who is on the board of directors for UCB and Solvay – are now among the top 20 most powerful directors in Belgium. Only one woman was in the top 20 in 2014.

Today, only one business in 6 has no women on the board of directors. Examples include Picanol, Resilux and Tigenix.
