Belgium: 7.5% of passenger cars are electric

On 1 August 2022, Belgium had 5,947,479 passenger cars, compared to 5,927,912 a year earlier. That is an increase of 0.3%. The number of passenger cars has increased by an average of 0.8% over the past ten years. This is according to new figures from Statbel, the Belgian statistical office.

Hybrid cars currently account for 6.3% of the total passenger car fleet and have well exceeded the 350,000 mark: 375,107 hybrid cars compared to only 258,916 in 2021 (+45%).

The number of fully electric passenger cars increased by 75% (71,651) and the number of gas-powered cars by 11% (17,740).
