Harry Potter Exhibition

Harry Potter after Brexit… What else could be more ridiculous? So The Exhibition opened at Palais 2 of Brussels Expo in Belgium on July 3. On hand were no longer red-headed twins James and Oliver Phelps, who played Fred and George Weasley in the Harry Potter film series. They’ve made a habit of showing up to these openings since the exhbitiion began back nearly a decade ago. As always, they added a bit of magic to the grand opening of the exhibition.

The Exhibition was created by Global Experience Specialists and features 10,000-14,000 square feet of exhibit space filled with authentic props, costumes, artifacts and set dressings from the Harry Potter film series. Since its premier in 2009 at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry, the Exhibition has attracted more than 3.5 million visitors in cities across the world including Boston, Toronto, Seattle, New York, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo, Paris and Shanghai. Eddie Newquist, chief creative officer for GES, spoke about the stop in Belgium.

The Exhibition contains dramatic displays inspired by the movies and a provides the opportunity for viewers to closely examine the craftsmanship that went into making the books come to life on the big screen. Some of the exhibits are interactive, such as the Quidditch area where fans can toss a Quaffle ball and a re-creation of Hagrid’s hut allowing visitors to sit in his giant-sized armchair.
