Belgian PM was received by Chinese President

The, Prime Minister, Charles Michel was received on Monday at the House of the People in Peking by the Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The latter instantly touched upon the relationship between the two countries, celebrating 45 years of bilateral diplomacy.

The Prime Minister’s visit took place after two state visits, one by Xi Jinping in Belgium in 2014, the other by King Philippe in China in 2015.

Addressing the Chinese President, Mr Michel called for “continued cementing of these relationships.”

The Head of the Belgian government noted “the vibrancy of economic relations” between the partners of both countries, whilst around 20 agreements were signed during highly numerous exchanges between “leading economic actors.”

These deals also delivered from a political, legal and indeed cultural perspective.

After his meeting with the Chinese President, Mr Michel had the opportunity to meet with his counterpart, Li Keqiang.
