Terrorist incident at Brussels Central Station: perpetrator supported IS

There are already some indications which appear to demonstrate that the perpetrator of the recent terrorist incident had sympathies for the terrorist organisation Islamic State (IS).

As has been widely circulated, the failed attack occurred at Brussels Central Station on Tuesday evening. These indications were referred to by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office (FPO) on Wednesday.

A search was undertaken at the home of the perpetrator at Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, also on Wednesday. The FPO says that Oussama Z. “probably made the bomb here.” The police discovered chemical components, as well as equipment which could be used to make an explosive.

The FPO said, “Some indications also appear to show that the man responsible had sympathies for the terrorist organisation IS.” The prosecuting authority did not reveal anything further as to the details of the incident.
