Major salad leaf recall initiated

Supermarket chain Albert Heijn, Carrefour and Colruyt recall various lettuce products after exceeding the norm of the pesticide chlorpyrifos. They do this in consultation with the Federal Agency for the safety of the food chain (FASFC).

Albert Heijn has a curly lettuce blend and arugula blend, Carrefour has four head lettuce products and a soft lettuce mix, and Colruyt has oak leaf lettuce.

Customers are asked not to eat the product and return it. Chlorpyrifos only causes health problems if it is consumed in large quantities, it is stated in the recall messages. Depending on the supermarket, the product was sold in the period between June 13 and 20, 2022.

The FAFSA published all three reports yesterday. The European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) also reported the excess of the norm.
