Almost 700,000 passengers fly Brussels Airlines in March

Brussels Airlines carried 686,299 passengers in March.

This is a growth of 51.4% on March 2016, which was marked by the March 22nd attacks with sustained flight disruption for the company.

Amongst March 2017’s passengers, 572,905 chose to take an intra-European flight and 113,394 flew to Africa, North America, Israel and India.

The company stresses in a communiqué, “The March figures are difficult to compare with those of March 2016. On March 22nd last year, Brussels Airport was indeed affected by the terrorist attacks which led to the closure of the airport for the remainder of the month.”

The company goes on, “In March 2016, the Brussels Airlines flight schedule, partly achieved by departures from airports other than Brussels, was considerably reduced with a significant bearing on the number of flights operated and passengers carried. Indeed in that month, 34.2% fewer flights were operated in comparison to the same month in 2017.”

March 2017, which has been particularly striking with the launch of the route to Mumbai (Bombay), has also seen Brussels Airlines passenger traffic increase by 9.1% to 74.8%.
