Economic state mission in South Korea: Brussels region signs partnership pact with Seoul

The Brussels-Capital and Seoul regions signed a pact of friendship and cooperation, in the capital of South Korea, Seoul, today.

At the same time, Princess Astrid, who is currently leading an economic mission in South Korea, was made a honorary South Korean citizen.

The Brussels Secretary of State, Cécile Jodogne and the Mayor of Seoul, Won-Soon Park, signed this pact intended to exchange the experiences of both cities in the spheres of economic investment, inclusive growth and job creation. Also to be considered under the pact are the issues of technological development, social innovation, e-government and urban development.

Tourism – including MICE-related competitiveness (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing and Exhibitions) – is also part of this pact. Other forms of cooperation will be possible, such as the mutually-beneficial exchange of civil servants between the two states.

The Brussels region is counting upon the South Korean capital to strengthen its image as the gateway to Europe.
