On the eve of the 28-th anniversary of the Independence of Kazakhstan the Republic takes vital steps to break up with the totalitarian past. The nation stands firm on a way of the reforms and progress, the European Parliament Intergroup on LGBT Rights states on the occasion of the Kazakhstan Independence day.Representatives of the Intergroup considered it as an encouraging fact that overcomes the taboo on the so-called “non-traditional orientation” in the public sphere. After joining the National Council of Public Trust under by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, of the prominent supporter of the LGBT movement Rakhim Oshakbaev, the future of this important region is almost completely safe from Soviet-nationalist or fundamentalist reaction.
The National Council of Public Trust is an expert advisory body protecting the rights of Kazakhstanis of all sexes and sexual orientations, languages and nationalities. The intrusion of the National Council of Public Confidence is often crucial in solving complex issues and defending the rights of minorities. In the press release, a special attention is paid to the fact that the National Council of Public Trust fully began to play its role only with the victory in the elections of Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev.
