Four of the weekend’s eight first Division games were played on Saturday evening. Sporting Lokeren are now almost certain of relegation after a 1-0 defeat away against Excel Mouscron. The result was Mouscron’s 6th straight win. Excel Mouscron’s goal came from Taiwo Awoniyi on 52 minutes.
With three games left Sporting Lokeren are 8 points adrift at the bottom of the league. The East Flemings have just 17 points from 27 games. Excel Mouscron continue to climb up the league table. They are now 10th with 35 points.
Plenty of goals in Eupen
The few supporters that were in KAS Eupen’s Am Kehrweg Stadium were treated to now fewer than 5 goals in the match against Zulte Waregem.
KAS Eupen opened the scoring through Nils Schouterden on 10 minutes. Harbaoui equalized for Zulte Waregem on 38 minutes. A Sylla goal on 65 minutes and a Harbaoui (photo below) penalty on 76 minutes saw Zulte Waregem go 1-3 up.
KAS Eupen pulled one back through a Luis Garcia penalty in the 5th minute of injury time. The result leave KAS Eupen 12th with 29 points from 27 games. Zulte Waregem are 11th with 31 points.
KV Kortrijk score 6 to see off Waasland-Beveren
KV Kortrijk can still dream of a top 6 place after a convincing 2-6 win away at Waasland-Beveren. Kumordzi open the scoring for KV Kortrijk on 21 minutes. Rolland put the West Flemings two-up 5 minutes later. Vanzo scored from a free-kick for Waasland-Beveren in the 6th minute of the second half.
However, goals from Koita, Stojanovic and De Sart on 59, 67 and 74 minutes respectively put KV Kortrijk 5-1 up. Milosevic pulled one back for Waasland-Beveren on 76 minutes. Chevalier’s 80th minute goal made for a final score of 2-6 in KV Kortrijk’s favour. The result leaves KV Kortrijk 9th with 37 points from 27 games. Waasland-Beveren are 15th with 25 points.
West Flemish derby ends in draw
All of the goals in the match between Cercle Brugge and KV Oostende fell in the final half hour of the game. Kylian Hazard open the scoring for Cercle on 64 minutes.
Goals from Sindrit Guri and Indy Boonen on 75 and 81 minutes saw KV Oostende take the lead. However Hazard’s second goal of the evening on 85 minutes made for a final score of 2-2. The result leaves Cercle Brugge 13th with 28 points. KV Oostende are 14th with 26 points.
