“Unfortunately, we suspect that at least one Belgian died in the Istanbul attack.

My thoughts are with their family and friends”, the Foreign Affairs Minister Didier Reynders wrote on the social networking site Twitter. The Belgian Foreign Affairs office confirmed the Minister’s fears. They are currently waiting for news of a missing Belgian national.

At least 39 people, including 15 foreigners, were killed and 65 people injured during an attack at a famous nightclub in Istanbul. Several hundred people were there celebrating New Year’s on Saturday evening.
