7.000 jobs to go at ING in Benelux area

The bank ING will remove some 7,000 jobs, mainly in Belgium and the Netherlands by 2021.

It made this announcement this morning (Monday). In Belgium, the objective is to reduce the total employed by the equivalent of 3,500 full-time jobs.

The new ING strategy is, in particular, anticipating cost reductions of the order of 900 million euros annually by 2021.

In total, some 7,000 jobs are under threat, mainly in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Shortly before this announcement, the figure of 3,158 jobs had been banded about by ING Belgium and its subsidiary Record Bank.

As indicated, the Dutch bank is still speaking of a figure of 3,500 jobs to go in Belgium.
