Charles Michel meets British Prime Minister Theresa May in London

Prime Minister Charles Michel met Tuesday with his British counterpart in London to discuss the fight against terrorism and the consequences of Brexit.
The meeting was meant to deal with two main subjects; firstly, combatting terrorism, regarding which Belgium and the United Kingdom are on the same wavelength, according to the Prime Minister’s entourage.

And then the consequences of Brexit. Following the “Leave” victory in the referendum last June 23rd, the British government has postponed the application of Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon, which will officially launch negotiations on the UK’s exit from the EU.

The Prime Minister promised that Article 50 would be applied before the end of March 2017. The meeting between the two heads of government should allow more clarity regarding this matter and Britain’s intentions.
