Medical Studies – the detailed program of the entrance examination in medicine and dentistry is validated

The government of the Walloon-Brussels Federation (FWB) has validated the detailed program for the entrance examinations for doctors and dentists, announced the Minister of Higher Education of the FWB, Jean-Claude Marcourt, by way of a press release.

The examination consists of two parts. First is the “Knowledge and understanding of science” in chemistry, biology, physics and mathematics. In biology, candidates will have to demonstrate their knowledge of genetics, cells and ecology. Physics will include a biomechanical section but also waves and electromagnetism. In mathematics, candidates will be tested on algebra, geometry or statistics.

This will be followed by a “Communication and Critical Analysis of Information” section, which deals with the humanistic dimension of the medical and dental practices. The questions will be divided into four chapters: assessment of reasoning capacity, analysis, integration, synthesis, argumentation, criticism and conceptualisation. In particular, the student will be asked to “collect symptoms, contextualise, interpret and test these hypotheses and prioritise them, possibly by means of additional tests.”
