The Brussels government is slowly killing the Airport

Arnaud Feist, the CEO of Brussels Airport, is not happy about the Brussels Region’s plans to fine Airlines that don’t meet noise level limits.

This would start on the 1st of January 2017. The Airport boss is also unhappy about the hesitation surrounding flying over Brussels, De Tijd, De Morgen and Het Nieuwsblad revealed on Saturday.

Arnaud Feist does not understand why development plans for Zaventem Airport are causing so much disagreement. “In lots of countries, people like a strategic plan, but not in Belgium. Here, anything to do with the Airport becomes such an emotionally charged issue that every decision becomes a problem. That frustrates me”, he said.

Arnaud Feist has also criticised the Brussels Region’s plan to fine Airlines that don’t meet noise level limits from the 1st January 2017. The decision will affect hundreds of Airlines that use the national airport. “The Brussels government is slowly killing the Airport”.

The CEO is also calling for the Federal government to quickly resolve the problems surrounding flying over Brussels. “It is extremely urgent”, he said.
