Belgium stocks higher at close of trade; BEL 20 up 0.05%

Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Healthcare and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.05%.

The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.39% or 0.660 points to trade at 48.185 at the close. Meanwhile, Ageas (BR:AGES) added 1.13% or 0.345 points to end at 30.780 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 0.97% or 1.00 points to 104.25 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which fell 0.80% or 0.12 points to trade at 14.90 at the close. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 0.59% or 0.17 points to end at 28.56 and KBC (BR:KBC) was down 0.20% or 0.090 points to 44.855.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 106 to 38 and 9 ended unchanged.

Gold for August delivery was up 0.06% or 0.85 to $1328.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.50% or 0.70 to hit $45.95 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.43% or 0.68 to trade at $46.93 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.44% to 1.1077, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8347.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 96.53.
