Belgium to get its own Burger King

The first Burger King restaurant in Belgium is scheduled to open its doors in summer 2017, the new acquirer of the Quick restaurant chain in Belgium and Luxembourg, QSR Belgium, announced on Friday. The two fast-foods will start off by sharing the same premises, QSR added.
QSR Belgium has finalized its acquisition of the Groupe Bertrand, which had bought over Quick in late 2015.

“QSR Belgium will manage the two chains in a process of transformation that will last many years, with the intention of setting up the first Burger King around summer 2017 and speeding up the rate in the coming years,” the company said.

The duration of this process and the number of restaurants to be transformed have not yet been established,” it said, adding that “the end of the Quick brand and its legendary products is not for tomorrow.

In fact, a new Quick restaurant is to be opened this month in Gembloux.

Kevin Derycke, a member of the Quick management for many years, will now head the network of 101 Quick restaurants in Belgium and Luxembourg, Brussels Times reports.
