De Lijn Strike: interruptions across entire network

The Flanders public transport situation was, once again, chaotic on Monday morning.

This is owing to the strike led by the company De Lijn’s affiliated unions. The spokesman explained that this is the fourth strike day. The disruptions are similar to those of previous days. Today there are ramifications for rural and urban networks.

The state-owned company vehicles are operating highly irregularly across the whole of Flanders. The provinces of Antwerp and Flemish Brabant are the most affected. At the coast, only one tram per hour is operating, whilst there is more traffic on regional lines (65%). That said, the shuttle buses for the Werchter festival are guaranteed to be running.

Today is the last day of the strike for the trade unions. They are protesting against the proposed new collective bargaining agreement within the company.
