Demolition of the Brussels World Trade Centre begins

Demolition of the World Trade Centre Towers 1 & 2 has begun in Brussels.

The real estate “ZIN” project will then sprout to welcome, among others, 3,900 Flemish civil servants by 2023. During this legislature, Belgium’s northern government has emphasized its foothold in the capital.

This demolition is the project’s first phase. A new building will then be erected to accommodate 75,000 m² of offices, 14,000 m² of housing, 16,000 m² of hotels, restaurants, shops and sport and recreation areas for a total 110,000 m². The two business towers will be thus merged into one building.

This is the largest real estate transaction on the Brussels market in 10 years. The construction cost is estimated at 375 million euros.

The work should be completed by mid-2023.
