Toon Aerts won the Belgian cyclocross championships at Kruibeke on Sunday. The rider raced to the front on one of the most arduous circuits in recent years. Protracted rain had turned the route of the race into a pool of mud. Riders struggled to complete the course in the East Flemish town of Kruibeke slipping and sliding throughout.
