March for the closure of the slaughterhouse in Brussels

On Sunday, the fourth March was held in Brussels with a call to close all slaughterhouses. It was organised by animals rights group Bite Back. Police say around 750 people attended. The demonstration ended with a “die-in” in front of La Monnaie. Around 100 people laid on the ground to symbolise animal deaths. The participants wore red to represent an abattoir site. Rail unions are threatening to strike on 22, 23 and 28 June

Two unions representing workers of the Belgian state railway company NMBS, threatened with a strike. The Independent Union of Rail Personnel (OVS) has issued a strike notice for a 24-hour strike starting on 27 June at 10pm. Meanwhile, the Autonomous Train Drivers’ Union (ASTB) has issued a strike notice for a 48-hour strike from 3am on the morning of Friday 22 June.
